"The internet is an odd place. Some people spill their guts. Others just want to show you their fish."
(10/99) I forget to keep the Board updated for years at a time. But here are some new bon mots (at least, they're new until I let my web pages get out of date again). |
(10/99) EB: "Fish don't give very good backrubs."
(10/99) Stonehenge, identified: "Greece--built to control flooding"
(10/99) Tell Asmar, identified: "hometown of Hammurabi, site of Rosetta stone with Hs laws on it."
-----> [In fact, Tell Asmar was a Sumerian shrine, ca. 2900BC, famous for small votive statues studied in class; Hammurabi came from Babylon, over 1000 years later, and the Rosetta stone is, of course, Egyptian, and not even real Egyptian, but from the period after the Macedonian Greeks conquered Egypt after 333 BC. Not something the hgeneral public would know, but we're studying ancient art history here!]
Here is also a warped summary of the legend of Osiris and Isis. And of course, the old Quote Board is still around too. Many gems from my college days.
